國王的新衣

White House Correspondents Dinner，是白宮一年一度和華盛頓記者吹水的宴會．總統會講講笑話搞氣氛，也會請些表演嘉賓互嘲一番，以示白宮和記者關係良好．今年，不知是誰出的鬼主意，請了最近當紅的搞笑時事騷主持Stephen Colbert做嘉賓．

我懷疑那個搞手根本沒看過他的節目，以為Colbert會像Jay Leno般，講些無傷大雅不痛不癢的笑話．以下摘錄幾段關於布殊的說話：

”I believe the government that governs best is the government that governs least. And by these standards, we have set up a fabulous government in Iraq.（我相信，管治得最少的政府，便是管治得最好的政府．根據這個標準，我們在伊拉克建立了一個非常出色的政府）

”The greatest thing about this man is he's steady. You know where he stands. He believes the same thing Wednesday that he believed on Monday, no matter what happened Tuesday. （他最大的優點是堅守信念．你完全清楚他的立場．他在星期三的信念，和他在星期一的信念是一模一樣的：無論星期二發生了甚麼事）

”So don't pay attention to the approval ratings that say 68% of Americans disapprove of the job this man is doing. I ask you this, does that not also logically mean that 68% approve of the job he's not doing?”（不用理會那些民意調查，它們說68％的美國人不滿意他做的工作．我問你們，邏輯上，這不正是表明了68％的美國人很滿意他沒有做的工作嗎？）

結果，坐在Colbert旁邊的美國總統喬治布殊，板著臉孔，默默忍守了近二十分鐘的泠嘲熱諷．

更好笑的是在埸的高官名流才子佳人，幾乎全部都不懂／不忍／不敢笑出聲．明明是一針見血的諷刺，現埸反應竟然是鴉雀無聲．

可悲的是，Colbert其實不過在說：「國王的新衣不知多漂亮！你們這些胡說八道，以為見到國王屁股胎記的賤民，快統統給我滾去驗眼！」

笑話好笑，只因為說的都是事實．
